Chail is one of the smallest hill resorts in India. Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh was expelled from Shimla and decided to create his own summer capital here in Chail.

The tinny town is surrounded by thick trees of deodars and situated at a higher altitude.

It was the perfect choice for British-controlled Shimla.

Places of interest in Chail

Chail Palace: The palace of the maharajas, which was built in late 19th century and the small cottages which were used for the royal guests and parties. are now a charming holiday resort.

Sai Baba Temple: Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was supposed to build his palace in this place, even he started building it. But one day he dreamed that a "Sidh" saint is saying that this was the place where he used to meditate.

So, Bhupinder Singh shifted his proposed palace to different place and made a beautiful temple of Sai Baba ver there. Cricket Ground: This ground was built in 1893.This is the World's highest cricket and polo ground.

 Wildlife Sanctuary: One can enjoy this small sanctuary with sambhar, ghoral, cheer phesants, barking deer and spotted at dusk and dawn in the sanctuary. Treks from Chail to Gaura and Chail to Jhaja are very with the adventure of this wildlife sanctuary.

Kufri is a tiny hill station located 19-kms from Shimla, it is very small but very popular hill station of Himalayan region. Once it was a part of Nepal but later it was discovered by British and became popular as it is very near to Shimla The Summer Capital of British Ruled India.

Mashru Peak: One can enjoy the thick forest around Kufri to the Mahasu Peak- the highest peak in Kufri.

Himalayan Nature Park: The Himalayan Nature Park has a collection of wild animals and birds.
